Sustainability at GETEC

For GETEC, sustainability is more than just a corporate obligation – it is a central component of our corporate strategy and a key driver of innovation and future viability. Since the 2021 financial year, we have voluntarily published reports on our ESG and sustainability activities, thereby actively contributing to the transparent transformation of the European energy infrastructure.

"We don't see sustainability as an obligation but as an opportunity to make our company fit for the future." -- Pierre-Alain Graf, CEO of GETEC

We are committed to taking responsibility through our technical solutions and projects and strive to make a meaningful contribution to the energy transition. Our goal is to secure a future worth living. We are guided by the idea that future generations should have access to the same resources and opportunities that we have today.

Our values – pioneering spirit, impact, reliability, and unity – form the foundation of our actions. Those are reflected in our vision of being Europe's leading partner in shaping the energy transition and in our mission to strengthen the success and resilience of our customers through reliable, decarbonised energy and infrastructure solutions.

The 2024 ESG report summarises the GETEC's group-wide sustainability activities in the 2023 financial year and is based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards. From the 2025 financial year onwards, GETEC will publish a comprehensive sustainability report in accordance with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).

A key goal of our strategy is to achieve net zero for Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2045 – five years earlier than envisaged in the European Green Deal. We will achieve this by gradually converting fossil fuel plants to sustainable, electrified solutions such as heat pumps and, in the future, using hydrogen.

In addition, we are focusing on intelligent, AI-supported energy management and transforming existing lignite-fired power plants into highly efficient combined heat and power (CHP) plants to reduce our CO₂ emissions by 2030 significantly.

In the Social and Governance topics, we are committed to a comprehensive diversity programme, a group-wide HSEQ management system (certified according to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001), and the continuous development of our governance structures. These include an externally operated whistleblower system and regular employee training on our Code of Conduct.
